You get two for the price of one today since our first castle is no longer a castle at all.
Wirtemberg Castle was the ancestral castle of the rulers of Württemberg in what is now Germany.
map coordinates 48.782075, 9.268675
The first castle on the site was built in 1080 and was called Wirdeberch. The castle was replaced by the classical Württemberg Mausoleum in 1820-24. The remains of several rulers are housed there.

Our second castle is Schloss Waldenbuch
map coordinates 48.637169, 9.130693
It was built in 1380 by the Dukes of Württemberg. But arceological eveidence combined with the wording of the records leads many researchers to believe it was built on the site of an older castle. Now only the core and tower remains of the 14th century keep.
