The Castillo de San Pedro de la Roca (also known by the less formal title of Castillo del Morro) is a fortress on the coast of the Cuban city of Santiago de Cuba.

It was designed in 1637 by Giovan Battista Antonelli (also known as Juan Battista Antonelli), a member of a Milanese family of military engineers, on behalf of the governor of the city, Pedro de la Roca y Borja; built on an earlier castle that dated from 1590.

The Palacio de Cortés was the residence of conquistador Hernán Cortés after he moved to the town of Cuernavaca from Mexico City.

Construction of the castle was started in 1526, for which the local population was employed. Cortés decided to build his residence on top of a hill, on the ruins of the lordship of Cuauhnahuac. Today, the fortification houses a museum.

Bouzov Castle is an early fortress first mentioned in 1317. It was built on a hill between the village of Hvozdek and the town of Bouzov, in Moravia, Czech Republic.

The first documented owner of the castle was lord Búz from the family Bouzov. In 1696 the barony was bought by the grand master of the Teutonic Order, the Rhenish palsgrave Fanciscus Ludovicus.

Meilgaard Castle is near Bonnerup Strand, Denmark.

Building on this moated fortification started around 1350, and mostly appears as it did in 1573 when it was remodeled extensively.

The Magister's Castle is the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes in the town of Rhodes, on the island of Rhodes in Greece.

It was built in the 14th century by the Knights of Rhodes (now officially known as the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes, and of Malta), who occupied Rhodes from 1309 to 1522.

Fortaleza Ozama is a sixteenth-century castle which lies at the entrance to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Kuressaare Castle is on Saaremaa island in Estonia.

The first documentation about the castle (arx aquilae) has been found in Latin texts written in 1381 and 1422. The town around the fortress flourished and developed after it became the see of the Bishopric of Ösel-Wiek established by Albert of Riga in 1228, part of the Terra Mariana. The castle is reputed to be haunted by a 16th century knight who was found immured in the walls.

Kuusisto Castle was a medieval episcopal castle on an island of Kuusisto in Kaarina, Finland.

The castle was probably built in the early 14th century, although the site seems to have been bishop's residence already in the 1290s.

Château du Fleckenstein is a castle in the commune of Lembach, in the Bas-Rhin département of France.

The castle was built on a sandstone summit in the Middle Ages. An ingenious system for collecting rainwater fed a cistern and a hoist allowed water and other loads to be moved to the upper floors. A castle is known to have existed on the site in 1165. It is named after the Fleckenstein family, owners until the death of the last male heir in 1720.

Château de Hohenbourg is a ruined castle in the commune of Wingen, in the Bas-Rhin département of France.

The Pullers (descendants of the Fleckensteins) appeared in 1236, calling themselves from 1262 the Pullers of Hohenbourg. According to T. Biller, the earliest castle at Hohenbourg probably dates from the end of the 12th century and remains of this can still be seen: part of the enceinte wall, the lower excavated levels of the northern building, a room carved from the rock with an arched door, and the well. You can see Fleckenstein from Hohenbourg if you look across the valley.

Château de Belvoir is a medieval castle in the department of Doubs, France.

Moritzburg Halle is a fortified castle in Halle (Saale), Germany.

The cornerstone of what would later become the residence of the Archbishops of Magdeburg was laid in 1484; the castle was built in the style of the Early Renaissance and is one of the most imposing buildings of Halle today.

Neuwerk Tower is on a Wadden Sea island in the city of Hamburg, Germany.

Since the Elbe river was vital to the Hanseatic League's member Hamburg, in 1299 a 35 meter tower was built as lighthouse and fortification against pirates. The lighthouse existing today was built between 1367 and 1369 after a fire destroyed the earlier one.
