Moderator: Could we get this in the "Please Read Before Posting" please do a search before you create a topic, because you might find what you are looking for already?  Efficient use of the forum is essential in finding your information.

Many people who are very talented Professionals and Amateurs alike have taken the time to post on topics already.

As an example?  I saw we have 2 new Topics opened under 'Corsets'.  So I did a search under the topic and found not 1 page not 3 pages but more than 6 pages on the subject of Corsets!!!

So please before you make a new Topic? Please do a search and see if your question has been answered before!!

Thank You for your time

I know that's been the policy of this forum in the past, but actually I prefer to have a new thread posted instead of a VERY old one bumped with additional posts (unless it's one of the gallery threads, of course).

Obviously I don't mean the two concurrent corset threads happening right now, but I'm sure that wasn't intentional on anyone's part!

In general the search feature IS tremendously useful (and it works really, really well on this forum!), and I do advise everyone to check the other threads before asking a question you might find answered elsewhere.

But I do think there's a lot to be said for new conversations, and members and your forum friends speaking directly to you... instead of always trying to eke out the information you want from someone else's conversation two or three years ago. :)

I think there's a balance, really.

SIX pages of corset threads.  I have truly died and gone to heaven!
I LOVE this forum almost as much as I love going to faire!!!

It is not that you should not place your question in a new Topic if you can't find your answer....however some people have been rather through on a topic and if you don't attempt a search THAT specific answer that would help you specifically would be missed.

Not saying that if you can't find something?? Go for it, but do attempt to do a basic search and then post away!  I am not bashing anyone but seeing the same questions over and over when I know people have answered and very well and aptly? It just seems like a waste of wisdom!!!

You know that if you see a repeat thread and you know that it relates to an older one.

You could just post a quick link to that thread, because your search foo is better than the posters.

It's what I try to do when I see it happen!  ;D
So what are you doing this weekend?
I'm going to BARF!!!
You're going to...wait...WHAT???

I would say check what has been posted before, because your question might have already been answered. BUT we don't necassarily need only one 'corset thread' (as an example). Even if its the same type of project, different people will have different problems/questions, and should be able to have a discussion for their particular issue. Aside from the gallery threads (which might as well be stickied) different theads may have their own points, and it'll be much easier to follow questions/discussions if they are a little more specific to the particular issue at hand, for each sewer.

Well, anyway, thats my 2 bits..
