I've practiced at my school in some of the "cheaper" 25yd skirts before, I bought a white one off a ebay store in China. It looked fine when I took it out of the packaging and put it on, minus a few thread pulls. To make a long story short, it didn't survive the first wash, even though I put it in a mesh dedicates bag and set my machine to "hand wash" cycle with mild detergent using only cold water. It never even made it to the dryer. The stitching loosened and I had gauze strips to attach to my mummy costume later in the year...Total waste of 25 bucks... :-[ I've gotten some pretty awesome costume pieces from Hong Kong or some place in China, but this was not one of them. These cotton gauze skirts just need a lot of reinforcement stitching and my cheapo one just didn't have it.

I know they are a bit expensive, but it is definitely worth the investment to get a good one. My pink 25yd skirt from Flying Skirts has held up to over a dozen washes, practice sessions and a handful of performances. It comes out of my gig bag looking like new and it has so much "lift" when you spin http://www.flyingskirts.com/catalog/skirts.shtml Moondance is also a good source, I've heard good things and they are cheaper, but I've never personally used their products. Sometimes they have sales and discounts if they only have a few colors and sizes left of a certain style. Maybe you'll luck out and find exactly what you need. http://www.moondancebellydance.com/
