That is cool. I wish I had the money to buy and refurbish it.

It would need some major refurbishment. We took a peek in (the opening is just boarded up) and it was completely dark, with trash all over. But it would still be so awesome to live in a castle!

Hearst Castle may possibly be the best known modern home built in castle style.
A mix of European styles, the castle is now a California State Historical site.

This is a 20th century construction and doesn't qualify for castle of the day; but its too cool not to share.
Swallow's Nest is a decorative castle near Yalta on the Crimean shore in southern Ukraine. It was built between 1911 and 1912 near Gaspra, on top of 40-meter (130 ft) high Aurora Cliff, to a Neo-Gothic design by the Russian architect Leonid Sherwood.

Another modern construct, Glenborrodale Castle was built in 1900, when Mr C D Rudd, a wealthy magnate who made his fortune in the diamond mines in South Africa, bought the estate and became the Laird of Ardnamurchan. Mr Rudd used 100 local men, who daily walked the 13 miles from Kilchoan to work on the building. They were paid a weekly wage equivalent to £1.25, and after 3 years the Castle was finally complete. According to local legend, before he passed away Mr Rudd buried a large diamond somewhere in the grounds.

The original owner and builder, Rex Martin, still owns the property but is looking to sell it. He and his ex-wife had the castle built to be a residence in 1969.

Little more info on the one above,  Rex Martin died in 2003 and the property was sold to a Lexington Lawyer who has since turned it into a $1000/night B&B with the ballroom and others available for rent. $50k for a 3 day weekend

There's Castle Glynn in Arrington, TN - admission to TNRF includes a castle tour.

Here is how you afford your own castle
Castle Douglas in Fort Worth, Texas.

Castle Douglas is in Rockwall TX.  I've been there many times and have even performed a wedding.

John & Charlotte are the owners and are avid Scarborough Faire-goers.

There is Kracht Castle in Kansas.
Over-the-top, homemade castle built by a man just looking for a place to relax.
