Unfinished Projects out there? Faires will be starting soon and it looks like the East Coast is deep in a Blizzard, so why not put some logs on the fire or turn up the heat a bit and delve through your stash or UFOs and well get them done!

I have this Spanish I have had sitting in my home now for GULP!! 3 Years! Yes because I did not or could not figure out what I wanted would go under the over gown!

So I found my inspiration! Take a look at this outfit:

Okay so those are inspiration but what about in period? Well here we are in period as well!

My Over Gown is Purple with Gold Medallions, and I went through my stash and found a butter yellow fabric that is just over 5 yards by 56" wide.

Here is my Overgown almost done I need to make my clasps the same color of gold, so I will need to get some spray paint and gloss finisher and then sew them on, plus I have these lovely sparkly gems that I will fix on the doublet.

Here is a close up of the Doublet

So there is my UFO, which I hope to be able to put into the FINISHED and DONE portion of this Forum soon!
I am planning on getting to Ithra in An Tir for the SCA in March and I want to have this done so I can wear it along with my new Green Fluer de Lys gown I just also finished and have no real photos of the dratted thing!

Holy cow! The top right blue one....what is the pattern number on that one?
My wife is wanting to make a new costume for this season..... that one will go so well with this one that she made for my oldest daughter.

I need to finish my favors and tokens actually.  I finished my trial version of what I'm making and took a week break...and I know if I don't start now I'll never get them finished in time!

Hmmm...I took a week to rest after finishing my daughter's costumes for her play. That combined with about 15 different appointments really wiped me out. I think I'll tackle something easy and make my Irish dress. I bought a bunch of green linen last year but never figured out what to do with it. I think I'll use that. I should have just about everything except trim. I think I'm down to just short bits so maybe I'll do a little embroidery. We'll see.

LOVE the Blue dress and material. Might I enquire into where you got that blue as Toki wants a doublet made out of a material like that.

I thought I had been specific when I posted but I see people are confused so I will clarify;

To Merlin:

I made my gown which is at the bottom of my post in purple with gold medallions. I made my Doublet by modifying my toile taken from Margo Anderson's patterns.  I also used the Spanish Sleeve directly from the same set of patterns.   You should check out them out at: www.margospatterns.com
All of the pictures, herein? They were made from the Costumers, and probably were draped with a lot of research to create the Spanish Styling of the Renaissance.  I can not vouch but I doubt any of these Costumers used a Commercial Pattern in making the Gowns you see here. I think it was mostly research and draped to create these gowns.  Many people have used Juan de Alcega Tailors Book, to figure out how many of the gowns were created.  I have this book myself and used it to gain some insight, so they also probably? Did this as well.

In fact here is a lady within the SCA who creates lovely Spanish Gowns she has some great insights:

To Lady de Laney:
As I stated in my original post, I got my inspiration only from looking at the web for pictures in the Spanish Style.  I can not tell you anything about the gowns other than they were made by awesome Costumers.  In the case of the Spanish Blue over gown with the Gold Kirtle? That was made by Lady Cecile de Bretigny for the Duchess Asa at her Coronation in the SCA to the throne of Atenvelt.  It was a few years ago so I don't know if that fabric is even on the market anymore.

I am stuck with an ear ache so I am hoping to get to cutting the inner lining of my Kirtle, and Sleeves so I can then put the trim on and begin adding pearls to the sleeves.  Once this is done I will add some boning to the top portion of my Kirtle and then add some trim and pearls to the fashion fabric. I think with knife pleating I will have enough in the skirt to be lovely and still go over my farthingale.

I WANT that blue gown that is stunning!

Id love to tackle a garbing project right now but alas all those garlands need to be done first  :(

Lady Isabella

Need to make paned sleeves for my red gown. A new cartridged pleated overskirt for my old navy blue gown, so I can wear it again. Everything is cut out. Just need to get sewing again!
