the faire opens soon

dear friends of sherwood,

the day approaches when our gates will open and our hopes are that many of you will be there to initiate our faire into the world of renafaires that will last long past our own mortal lives.

we are building a faire for many reasons:
1) business
2) community
3) to support the artists, music and theatre
4) to live a dream and facilitate a place for others to dream, likewise
5) to create a legacy for future generations who desire a place and a community where they can play, drink, enjoy the company of others, escape from the woes of the mundane world about us

it's a first year faire.  with your patronage, we will continue to grow the faire in quality and wonderment.  we will continue to ask for your ideas, your suggestions on what will make sherwood even more spectacular than it is already.

we believe that sherwood is unlike any first or fifth or even tenth year faire...for it is a composite of many people's work and commitment.  sherwood will have over 15 places where entertainment will be performed.  our acting company is very, very special.  our grounds are beautiful.  our core values are solid.  our approach, in general, is based on good business principles as well very inclusive social expectations.  we are environmental.  we are protective of the opportunity to walk and build in these woods. we are respectful of the people working with and beside us.

we only have a couple of staff working full time: our illustrious director of entertainment, sir zane baker; our newcomer, director of operations, matt roberts; our building and maintenance manager, john garza...and the rest of this magificant work is done thru a strong network of volunteers.

when you see the grounds, when you actually feel the spirit that permeates the faire, you will be amazed at the soul and fabric of the faire...and that so much could have been done with so little paid staff.  instead, we have invested our money in infrastructure--and we believe that investment will pay off in patron satisfaction.

we will fall short in many ways.  we will disappoint some.  but, in the end of the day, sherwood will exceed most of your expectations.  you will be drawn into the faire's illusions--into the faire experience--into our collective dreams.

spread the word, dear friends.  we need our forest filled on opening day.  we need to have this first year a booming success to allow us to build even more.

please take a minute to email friends and family and invite them to enjoy the entertainment, food, drink, and theatre of sherwood.
