Do you think it is impossible to put off a good faerie hat?

I am starting to design my costume for the festival season and I am trying to stay away from the whole garland of flowers around my head, but I am having issues finding hats that work. Does anyone have any photos of faeries with hats that I could look at. I am thinking maybe a berret *good old target ones* and put some lily pads and frogs on it. I do play a water faerie, but often spend a lot of time playing in bubbles.
Bubbles are pure magic... if you don't believe me watch any man, woman, or child chase a bubble down the road.

I don't know if it would work for your type of fairy, but somewhere on these boards, someone posted a picture of a fairy who wore a cornucopia basket on her head.  She had it decorated with leaves, and it was absolutely adorable.

I've seen cornucopia baskets at Michael's and Hobby Lobby, and they weren't too expensive.  Maybe you could cover yours with some kind of drooping garland (that looks kind of like seaweed) and seashells or frogs and lily pads.

It was different than the flower head rings that just about every fairy wears, and it looked really cute.

I could see a beret w/frogs and such looking cute.  :)  Maybe look up period hats.  There were some pretty crazy designs, so perhaps one of those could be adapted to look "faery."

Have you considered braiding part of your hair and adding some drapey strings of "pearls" and other watery treasures, instead of wearing a hat?  That might be another option for you.

While this one is sized for a baby, one could be made in fae sizes as well http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=41022028
