I'm a recent convert to listening to podcasts (especially when I can't find any recorded books that interest me at the local library).

For fiction I've been enjoying The Hall of Mirrors & One Among the Sleepless by Mike Bennett. Tales of the odd reminiscent of Twilight Zone, or Night Gallery TV shows. Warning they are aimed at an adult audience due to language, occasional violence, and sex. Oops forgot the url: http://www.mikebennettpodcast.com/

Skeptoid is a weekly podcast dedicated to furthering knowledge by blasting away the widespread pseudosciences that infect popular culture. Covers everything from the creationism/evolution debate to debunking homeopathy to Chemtrails (the conspiracy theory that jet contrails are really chemicals/drugs being secretly seeded into the atmosphere).

I do podcasts for an electronics trade magazine and the engineering company I work for...if you have trouble sleeping and want to know more about designing for proper impedance control... ;D

A new podcast novel I'm recommending
It is the dawn of the 20th Century. A diabolical crime forces one man to relive a grief of the past and trust a forgotten friendship. This pathological cynic of all things paranormal is catapulted into a collision course with an undeniable supernatural force.

This is the latest podcast novel I'm listening to. It's kind of horror/scifi

Deep below a desolate Utah mountain lies the largest platinum deposit ever discovered. A billion-dollar find, it waits for any company that can drill a world's record, three-mile-deep mine shaft. EarthCore is the company with the technology, the resources and the guts to go after the mother lode. But at three miles below the surface, something has been waiting for centuries.

The author has some other free audio stories available online and I'm thinking I may have to check them out when I finish this one. http://www.scottsigler.com/earthcore/

I've also started listening to a couple other non-fiction podcasts

Dogma Free America (Dogma makes you crazy)

Here's the latest free podcast novel I've listened to and recommend. It's a fantasy that I would probably put it in the "young adult" area of the library if it were a hard copy book. Podiobooks rates it as "family friendly," but there is some violence so I would call it a teen book rather than "juvenile", but it's a fun listen especially if you need something to keep your mind occupied while working on something else.

Check out http://decoderringtheater.com/ They have some fun half hour stories in the style of the old radio shows. The are also free on iTunes if you search for "Decoder ring theater"

"The Adventures of Black Jack Justice" Hard-boiled pulp mystery and adventure comes to life in the days when men were men, women were dames, and everyone looked swell in hats. Join Jack Justice and his long-suffering partner Trixie Dixon, Girl Detective as they navigate murder and mayhem with a gaudy metaphor and a good-natured leer.

"The Red Panda Adventures" -Tales of Canada's greatest super hero and his sidekick the Flying Squirrel. a lighthearted adventure series in the style of old time radio that follows the 1930s adventures of "Canada's greatest superhero", the Red Panda, and his trusty sidekick, the "fearless fighting female" the Flying Squirrel, as they protect the citizens of Toronto from villains ranging from gangsters and supervillains to the supernatural forces of darkness.

There's also a Science Fiction one called Deck Gibson, but I haven't listened the any of them yet. Once an ace pilot and crack gunner for the feared Quasar Corps of Earth (Call sign: Draco), Deck was lost in the depths of space after a brutal space battle, his damaged starfighter rescued by the alien Far Reach Fleet. He now pilots the Far Reach 1.

I very much enjoyed ShadowMagic. And we love Black Jack but not so much of Red Panda.

Podiobooks is a great website with constantly updating novels.

I also enjoyed the Jack Palms by Seth Harwood and the Heaven series by Mur Lafferty.

I'ld like to hear some of the WWII Red Panda stories from before it became a podcast. In a tidbit in the "Season One Spectacular" it sounded like it had a different tone.

Here's the latest podcast story I've been enjoying
Wormwood http://www.wormwoodshow.com/

Tragedy forced Doctor Xander Crowe down the pathways of the occult and he was forever transformed. Now, chasing the vision of a drowned woman, Crowe finds himself in the haunted town of Wormwood, where evil lurks in the shadows and stains the souls of its inhabitants.

The atmosphere of it and the music reminds me a little of the HBO series Carnivàle, but with more tonque-in-cheek moments.

I stumbled on to Wormwood through this site:

Playing for Keeps. A fun podcast I just started listening to. Keepsie and her friends live in a world with super villains and egotistical super heroes who live off public tax support. She and the regular customers of her bar also have "powers," -but their talents are not the kind to to get legally licensed as Heroes and so they were rejected after being tested by the "Academy."

They have to sit back and watch the general public worship the "real" heroes and deal with the frustrating realities and aftermaths of super battles int the streets like traffic jams, damaged buildings, and casualties among innocent bystanders. Reminds me of the comedy movie "Mystery Men" http://www.playingforkeepsnovel.com

Leviathan Chronicles
I've also been listening to this (still in progress) science Fiction audio drama that's really well produced with sound effects, music and multiple voices, not just one reader http://leviathanchronicles.com/

And I just finished Fried Green Zombies
Chett and Harry are two recently fired construction workers on their way to a weekend of beer, Southern Comfort, and frog gigging at their musty-rusty 1970's RV parked at their favorite hunting camp and end up being chased by truck driving zombies, dirty cops, UFOs and other ne'er-do-wells. Zombies are traipsing around their trailer, and crazy Uncle Crank is trying to feed them chicken that just won't stay dead.

I love the "Leviathan Chronicles".  Really top notch.  I just listened to another series of Mur Lafferty's the other day, and now the title is escaping me. It was about corporate zombies, who were really zombies.  Fun stuff.
I aim to misbehave
