reflections

i have been a long journey
i have sat at the footsteps of academicians, theologians and sages
i have meditated, prayed, found mysticism, and studied the great religions of the world
and everything--all my travels, all my searching--has led to me to sherwood

i thought about life a great deal during sherwood
i thought about our very brief gift of consciousness
and it all seemed right
it all seemed aligned, in tune with the cosmic

kids playing
lovers laying in the spring grasses
music bouncing off every tree
art everywhere
gypsies dancing
drummers sending us into some primitive trance amidst the seven sisters
fair trade
people happy, hugging, lost in a world where love still reigned
affirmations that this was a sanctuary for the sojourner

and the canvas which is sherwood will continue to be painted upon
by all the travelers who make it into this forest
and lay their head down to rest
and chance to take off their armour
and throw their cares to the wind for a day, a weekend, or a lifetime

i think we are about something quite unique
more than a faire
more than a business
more than a passing fancy

long lost brothers and sisters embraced
stared into each others' eyes
knew
knew of the magic and spirit permeating this place

i am encouraged that my life has brought me here
i am hopeful that my children will grow up enriched by your love

long may sherwood prosper and grow and evolve
just born, but born of an old soul
i so look forward to the communion with you for years to come
