Can anybody tell me where I might find this "exact" type of axe. It came out around the KoH time frame, and has since then been sold out.

Maybe someone has one they could part with, for the right price?

bran_gray

Sorry I can't help but I can't say I've ever seen the like before.

It is a beautiful specimen though.  I've always preferred axes to swords  ;D

escherblacksmith

so, when you  say "exact type", what do you mean?  Or are you looking for this exact axe (with the cross cut-out, etc)

Monsignor de Beaumanoir

Absolutely! This one has caught my eye. ;D

I don't know if you found what you were looking for yet but I did some research and found both a company that rents them and a company that sells them.

Hope this is what you were looking for and enjoy your new axe!

I have not found what I'm looking for ............yet. Your selling site doesn't carry them anymore.

As for a rental....wonder if I could "lose" it, and reimburse them..... ;) :P ;D

bran_gray

Might contact them and see if they would sell you one.  And that's kind of strange that the sell site no longer sells them even though it's listed  ::)

Monsignor de Beaumanoir

I've encountered at least three sites that have done this. In honor of your effort, when I finally do find one for my very own, I will name it "bran". :P

I think you're trying to get me arrested now  :o

"Who done it?"

"Some bloke named Bran I think.  Waving a large axe around like a madman..."

Btw, here's the axe I carry around at faire.  It's a heavy bearded axe that can be used for melee, throwing, and removing my wifes pants (true story).

Monsignor de Beaumanoir

There goes my pausible deniability. ;)

I like the axe head on your axe. With a 3-4' pole it would fit my bill. Where did you come by it?

Sounds like an interesting story.........lol!

bran_gray

I picked it up from Scarborough my first year there.

This particular one is sold at Legacy Forge but I would still love to get an axe made at Angel Sword.

Monsignor de Beaumanoir

Have you ever thought about putting at least a 3' handle on it? ???

bran_gray

It's hard to throw an axe with a 3' handle on it  ;D

Monsignor de Beaumanoir

My mentality prevents me from launching a weapon that's not guaranteed to do the deed. I'd rather reintroduce my weapon to the opponent over and over again. :P

Drudonn

Amen! I'd much rather use my axes to pull away shields and then carve my opponent into submission...if you throw an axe, there's always the possibility (if you didn't do it right) of someone throwing it back at you!

angusmacinnes

rocks are for throwing, axes are for chopping.  ;D

Not if you know what you're doing.  I've been throwing axes & tomahawks for years... The double bit ones that i throw can blast right through 2x6's.  The Franks and the Danes were known for their axe throwing... the impact and added weight weakens the shield arm and leaves openings in a warrior's defences for the sword rush that follows.

That's "doing it right" LOL

bran_gray

Did you ever find an axe that you liked Warrior Monk?

Monsignor de Beaumanoir

Sadly....no. Do you have a lead for me?

bran_gray

No sir.  But now you've put me on the hunt again.  I'll see if I can find the axe again and perhaps some other options for you.

bran_gray

Well, I searched and searched and searched...and searched some more.  I've looked through pages of ebay auctions, google images, and various other sites.

I found it for sale on one other site but it is very much marked up in price.  A little over $200 but it's the exact axe you want.  I also believe it is overseas.  And I personally hate ordering overseas.

Here are a few other options for you as well.  Nothing quite as nice as the axe you want but some of the axes look decent (despite the mass manufactured look to them).
http://www.duncanmetalcraft.com/?file=kop4.php Not bearded but a nice axe head.  No price listed.
http://www.wulflund.com/weapons/axes-poleweapons/ Wulflund seems to have a good little selection.  Four pages and I saw a few axes that might interest you (I liked the double headed axe with the cross cut out).

I will keep searching but I figured this would be a nice little chunk of information for you to check out.
