Wearing leather pants just makes me think of the episode of "Friends" when Ross wore leather pants on a date and then couldn't get them back up after going to the bathroom.

the only way this does not work is if the pants are so tight that they look like they were painted on.  I had a pair of leather pants made.  Now those that know me will testify that I am by no means a challange to Errol Flynn.  These pants were made for me to go with a specific outfit that I have.   They are lined and still I sweat in them, and as has been said it is uncomfortable and annoying.  So I went to one of the local shops and went to the womens department and got the largest pair of womens stretch pants that I could find.  The leather pants go over these quite well and I am comfortable for the day.

Sadly I am a man with ugly legs.  Damn my knobbly knees!  (a kilt is probably going to be next on my garb list because of how comfortable they look actually)

I ended up going with the nice black linen pants and just got back from Sherwood Forest Faire today and am very happy with my purchase.  The leather pants will have to wait for another day.

Pants were probably the best choice for a start, then you can move on into that kilt when you're ready

  My otherworldly profession sometimes has me covered from head to toe in plastic (slicker suit) in 105 degree weather spraying hot water at high pressures on a concrete slab...it doesn't get much hotter than that.  Especially doing it for 2 hours at a time 

My far too active imagination is busily at work trying to picture just exactly which profession would require this specific activity on a regular basis... and I must admit, I'm coming up with a blank!

For pants, you might want to go back to House of Dra. I've got a pair of her wrap pants and it sounds like that would work well for your persona.
