Hello everyone, I have been lurking for a while and decided to introduce myself since opening day is so close.

My name is Skip, I am a photographer and I love going to and taking pics at faire.  I have upgraded my
equipment since last year and am looking to take lots and lots of images of all you wonderful people.  I
am planning on going on both opening and closing days so if you see me (see avitar - tall and slightly bald!  :o)
please stop me and let me take your picture which I will be posting on my pbase site pbase.com/reknox.
Sorry I won't be dressed up but I did notice a shop in Loveland where I live so by next year I hope to fit in
a little better.

After spending a little time on this site I must say that all of you seem to be really nice and friendly.  I have been a
little reluctant to approach strangers in public to ask to photograph them but after reading the posts here I will feel
much more comfortable - at least at CoRF!

Very glad I found this site and look forward to meeting all of you in person.

BTW where and when will you be gathering for a group pic - would love to get a shot of that.

Welcome!  :)  Hope you enjoy the faire, feel free to come and say hi any time!

And I'm not sure that we decided on the group pic...last year we did it on closing weekend, but the year before that was on opening weekend....thoughts, anyone?  Was there a decision made?

Welcome Skip!

As for feeling shy about taking pictures... there is a photo contest every year, so people here are very used to strangers taking their pictures.  Don't worry, most of us don't bite.  You may want to watch out for Cap'n Spleen though.  Actually I think the majority of us are hams.

I think we decided to take the group picture on the final weekend on both Saturday and Sunday due to so many people not being able to make one of the two days.  The time and location I think was the stickler.  It is usually by front gate before closing.
There is not enough darkness in the world to extinguish a small candle.

Welcome, Skip!

Please allow me to give you two small pieces of advise:
1.  Don't feel at all shy about taking photos of anyone in garb.  Not only are we used to it, most of us actually enjoy having photos taken as it gives us an opportunity to meet the photographer(s).  (Chime in, please, fellow rennies!)
2.  Be careful about coming to the Faire in garb.  Once you do, you'll have so much fun you won't want to attend in street clothes (mundanes) ever again!

So come, have a great time, and take photos until your fairy box starts to smoke if you like.

Well met!

I will agree with previous postings, just about all of us love being photographed!

And no apology is needed for not dressing up ... but I agree that wearing the proper garb will completely change the experience, for the better.

And your question might very well spur us to making a plan for the group photo ...

Come by my booth, photographers love to stop by and take photos of the children being facepainted. They are so adorable... Just make sure you ask the parents for permission.. as I'm really protective of the kids in my booth and I have been known to stick my hand over the face of the child and ruin your shot, if I feel the photographer is doesn't have permission to do so.  I'm located inside the gate and just to the left in front of the Queens fancy.
Cause, "Cake or death?" That's a pretty easy question.
Anyone could answer that.
"Cake or death?"
"Eh, cake please."

Thank you all for the warm welcome.  Again I really feel that this is an exceptional group of great people that I hope to become a part of.
I will definitely be asking many more people to photograph them and not feel like I am being too intrusive.

I will try to find all of you to meet you in person and Mistress Charlotte I will most definitely stop by and get some shots of the face painting.
I am very impressed that you look after the kids at your booth even though you don't even know them - again great people here.

I will be keeping an eye out for the group shot time and place.  Just can't wait to take some awesome shots this year.

Well Heidi-ho neighbor. Toki and I are also in Loveland and I know the shop you refer to. She does OUTSTANDING work. But I will advise oreder something you want made now as she is so busy it will take her 6 to 12 months to get it done.

Like you I am a photographer (on the side) You can find me at either http://www.delaneyalysa.com or http://www.pbase.com/delaneyalysa

You will find Toki and I there opening day outside the gates as well as Baron and Baroness. And yes we all do love seeing our images captured.

if you look for me... I will be most likely in a greed and gold noble dress with a black and gold gabled hood on. Thats the Renaissance hat the looks like a house sitting on the head. Toki hopefully will be in a royal blue and red doublet with panned slops (pumpkin pants) and knee high black boots. he has a full beard.

Hope to see you and stop us and say hi,

OH best advise, go left out of the gate instead of right. Charlettes booth is there and many of us stop there first.

I am so looking forward to June 12th!!!  I will have no problem asking those in garb to take pictures this year.  I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in person.

Other than some pictures on this site I won't know who too many of you are so please stop me if you see me and say hi.  You all should be able to recognize me.  I am tall enough to have outgrown my hair, will either look very professional or like a very big dork with two cameras (14 gigs of cards that I hope make it through the day) and since I tore several ligaments in my left ankle a short while ago I will also walk with a limp.  Come to think of it I probably could have pulled off the whole pirate thing pretty good, just need to make that sore ankle look like a peg leg is all!!!

Hey Lady de Laney I have seen your web site and like your images very much, look forward to meeting you and getting to talk to another photog and one from Loveland to boot.  Maybe you can introduce me to some of the others from here and help me get off to a running start.

See you in a couple of weeks!!!

Only 14GB of memory? LOL. I can usually make it with 4 but have 7. But then again I don't shoot in RAW which takes a Huge amount. Nelson Chen however does plus to boot he uses 2 cameras that shoot at 21 Mega Pixies each.

I'll be more than happy to intoduce you to others and to sit and chat.

See you in less than 2 weeks.

I handed my sister her camera and told her that I had gotten lots of mega pixies. She looked at me like I was nuts lol

I have no idea if I started that or not... probably not. But it was something I just pulled off the top of my head one day a few years ago at faire.

I had a dane come up to me and start ribbing me about having a camera while I was in renaissance garb and how UN-Renaissance and out of place it was. I said "Sir, this is not a camera, this is a Da Vinci Fairy Box. It has 8.1 Mega Pixies in it and when I open their window to the outside, they instantly paint an exact image of what they see!" He gave me a funny look like "OH" and walked off. So since that day I have always refered to my camera as a Da Vinci Fairy Box with 8.1 mega pixies inside of it.

I do know others have always refered to their cameras as Da Vinci Boxes and I did not start that.

Zoë

I saw someone at the Arizona faire this year who was dressed as a barbarian and had a custom case for his camera that involved a lot of fur and leather, it's really awesome how creative people get with "hiding" their cameras--er, Da Vinci Fairy Boxes--in garb.

I will be with the very large group "Fleet" of Pirates, you won't be able to miss us, marching up to the pub after opening cannon.

I am known as Madam Devyne, please ask and I will try to get some of our beauties to pose for you!

BTW - the only suggestion I would have for posting photos is this; some wenches, even though they are wearing corsets and such, can be uncomfortable with photos of them being posted if they don't know what the photo is (muddled enough?)  What I am saying is, if you get a photo that looks to be a bit heavy on the cleavage, make sure you confirm it will be ok to post in a public forum.  There was a time in the not too distant past that some photogs were taking questionable pics and posting them - ladies were finding themselves posted up and they had no idea that the photos were being taken.

Please don't take this as me suggesting you are a shady character nor a warning against taking pics, most of us are ok and love to ham it up a bit, but please be sure to introduce yourself and hand out cards with your name and website, this makes some people less weary.

I look forward to meeting you this Saturday!
