Waking up sore all over, and realizing it's because I had such an awesome time this weekend at a new (to me) Faire, filled with wonderful Fairemily!!!

Getting the call that I got the job (after finding the now new manager of mine was at this past weekend's pirate frestival) and then being able to go home early (from the first job) and starting to listen to the Bawdy Boys Dirty Album. XD

Knowing I have a short work week AND that 3 big clutter things that have been clogging up my work space in the garage are going to be GONE by the end of the week. 
Now if we can only sell our two 100mpg scooters, everything will be out of the way.

After 5 months of fighting with the stockroom and the company, I FINALLY got my bacteria! Unfortunately, most of the lab is in New Orleans for a conference and I'm kinda nervous about reanimating the samples on my own. Definitely don't want to mess up and kill the bacteria before I get a chance to do anything with it.

Do you think you can wait for other lab rats to show up? I've been watching some of the bacteria posts you've made (I'm a science geek....) and I'd hate to see it be messed up by nerves after all you've gone through to get it! And what will you be doing with it? (Just wondering.....)

I'm definitely waiting until I can get someone who knows what they're doing to help me! And it's Brucella ovis, a venereal disease in rams and red deer causing low sperm counts. I'm going to be looking at a specific sequence in the DNA that possibly controls virulence and resistance to oxidative stress. Once I grow the bacteria, I'll be sequencing the DNA and amplifying the one sequence. After that I'll probably knock out that gene sequence and hit the bacteria with some oxidative stress and see what happens.
