Hi,
CHASE Community Giving is having a contest-- they are sharing over $5 million among the top 200 voted charities.  RESCU is in 21st place... SO FAR!  The top 20 will receive $100K in funding, and the rest up to 200 will receive $20K.  The most voted charity will receive $250K in funds!  We need more votes. We were at 17th place but we slipped out of the top 20. Please if you have not yet done it, go vote-- you just have to do it once. Only 1 vote per person...

For those of you who are not familiar with RESCU - This is what they do:

"To promote and maintain the health and medical well-being of the participants of Renaissance Faires, historical performances and other artist...

We're asking you to help decide which 200 local charities share $5 million in donations from Chase. ...

All you have to do is click your mouse three or four times, and you're done! It won't take too much time, and look at what you can help do.  Each person is only allowed one vote per charitable organization-- so each vote really matters.  The leader of the contest has nearly 2000 votes already. We have just over 360.  Get as many of your friends to vote, too... let's get RESCU some real funds!

Thanks-- I hope to post this to other forum categories, and I hope that the management will allow it to remain in each of them.

Thanks again
Antoine

RESCU

As of this morning, RESCU was in 61st place in the Chase Giving Project on Facebook.

QuoteRenaissance festivals are filled with an astounding array of brilliant creativity and a magnificent variety of minds. For over 2 decades I have lived and worked in this tightly knit community of caring individuals, most of whom are, and have always been, self-employed.

In the US, health insurance for the self employed is basically non-existent. Yes, there are catastrophic policies, etc, but true health care for most members of this family only come about through the support of the community. For years, whenever someone needed help, or suffered catastrophe, no matter what faire they were at people would come together, and raise money, and get it to the one(s) in need. I've seen $8,000+ raised in an evening of frivolity, by a bunch of folks living in tents. It is beautiful to see true community in action.

A few years ago, a group came together and decided to organize this process, and make it available to anyone who worked at any renaissance festival or historical reenactment in any capacity.

The RESCU Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 not for profit that has cumulatively distributed well over a hundred thousand dollars to those in need for medical expenses, and through their patient advocacy program, more than a million dollars in hospital bills has been forgiven/reduced. They have several other programs in place. In short, they do a LOT of good. All the efforts are volunteer efforts, and almost all of the money goes directly to those in need. This is almost exactly how the Will Rogers Institute began.

Chase Bank has pledged to give away a huge sum of money in their "Community Giving" campaign:
* One charity will receive $250k
* 4 runners-up will receive $100k
* 195 others will receive $20k

At present, RESCU is in 45th 61st place, but we have been dropping as other groups get their votes out. If each of my facebook 'fans' voted for RESCUE, we would jump immediately into 5th place, and into the $100,000 range. Most charities spend more than half of what they raise trying to raise more, or paying employees. RESCUE does not. We can help a great many people, all it takes is votes.

Please consider helping this community of self-starters.

Thanks for your support, and please feel free to repost this piece to your pages.
