Congratulations!!!  You'll be amazed at how quick you get with it, and you might try a couple of different ways of holding the loom and hook, just to see if there is a more efficient method for you.  I had the set for over a year before it occurred to me to try it a different way, and now I can finish things in about 2/3 the time I did before.  I know people who hold them all sorts of ways, so what seems like the most obvious may not necessarily be the most efficient...

Love to see some pics, btw...  ;)

Hehehhe, I bought a set yesterday! Plus the small round loom, and happily made flowers last night, and started on a scarf!

Ok, I'll see if I can explain it...

At first, I held the loom vertically, with the pegs facing away from me, after I had cast on two (or more) rows of stitches, and hooked the lower row of stitches (closest to the base of the pegs) by placing the point of the hook between the stitches and twisting my wrist toward the outside to carry the loop over the upper stitch.  This caused my wrist to get sore after only a short while, but it didn't occur to me to try a different method until much later...

Now, I hold the loom vertically with the pegs facing me, and hook the first row of stitches from the side closest to the base of the peg, lifting it over the top row and toward me, with far less wrist-twisting motion, making it possible for me to knit for much longer periods before my wrist tires.  (Since I have some joint problems and Fibromyalgia, this leaves me in less pain later, as well).

Hope some of that made at least a little sense.  I'll try to remember to take a couple of pictures to demonstrate, later when I manage to dig them out of the unpacking chaos.

I also want pictures of these flowers, Lady R!!!  They sound lovely, and what I'm picturing are the type of yarn flowers that my grandmother made afgans out of in the 70's...

Anna, I've seen the set of 4 round looms sold at Hobby Lobby for $14.99, although I haven't priced them in a couple of years.  With the 40% off coupon that's in most Sunday papers they can be very reasonable, and sometimes they go on sale for half off, though not often.

I got one of these for christmas and succeeded in making many different sized tubes. I just kept saying they were sleeves.  Joann's ha them there and if get on their mailing list you can get a 40% off coupon

Here are the two flowers that I made the other night. I added a border around the middle part of the flower, because I liked the way it looked.  ;D

I finished a scarf last night, too, and will be adding fringe and the flowers to it later.

LadyShadow

Oh so lovely.  I really need to go get me one of those knitting things now.  Cant wait to see the finished scarf.
