"The first images from the set of Paul W.S. Andersons The Three Musketeers have leaked online.  The set photos offer us our first look at Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) as the villain Rochefort and Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson) as hero/aspiring musketeer DArtagnan.  As youll see from the images, Anderson isnt pushing any boundaries when it comes to the costumes.  On the plus side, Mikkelsen looks like even more of a badass when wearing an eyepatch.

The film also stars Milla Jovovich, Christoph Waltz, Orlando Bloom, Matthew Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson, Juno Temple, and Luke Evans.  Hit the jump to check out the images.  The Three Musketeers is set to open in 3D on April 15, 2011."

It looks good but I can not imagine how they can make a better movie that the 70's version with Michael York and Oliver Reid.  Those two movies (Three Musketeers,  Four Musketeers) were the closest to the book of any made, in my opinion.

Yeah, I love those movies too.  I'm willing to give this version a shot, but I can't help thinking that it will turn out to be another of those angsty, dark  stories so popular now.
I love the pretty dresses, fun situations and sense of adventure that the older movies have.
Seems there isn't a remake out there that isn't trying to put a strange or depressing spin on a good story.
Think the latest version of Robin Hood-almost 3 hours of "WTF!"

I don't agree.  The new Robin Hood was awesome.

I strongly disliked the 70's versions but really enjoyed the 1993 version.  Can't imagine what 3D is going to do for the story, I hope they don't load it up with a bunch of "made for 3D" shots and neglect the plot!

Looks good, but as others have said, there have been some very good movies made of this story already. Hard to see what new thing can be interjected.  I'd see it, cuz I am a sucker for any period movie.

The Robin Hood with Russel Crow?  Like the man says "Eh, not so much".  I love Crow in most anything, but this.  Didn't do well in the boxoffice either, and I know a few entities out there that were counting on this film being the next "Pirates of the Caribean".

To me, it was just 'Gladiator 2' with costumes stolen from Kingdom of Heaven.

I hope the 3 Musketeers movie turns out good, but we'll just have to wait and see. Nice pictures, though

The stills so far look good. I hope they keep it to the proper lines and not veer off.  Here is another link to look at -

Sweet!  Bloom makes peacock blue look good  :D  I must have spent 20 minutes studying the Jewelry alone.  I wish there were more pics of the ladies' costumes. (sans those nasty cigarettes).
