Very nice.  Are these hand-held, or tripod?  Guessing long exposure then flash (bulb mode?), similar to light painting?

Yes - hand held, 1 to 2 second shutter, rear curtain flash, aperture adjusted according to the amount of light from the flames

Thanks for the info.  I have not yet played around with rear curtain flash, but may have to try my hand at it soon.

Malibar you are a photo ninja!!!! What an amazing shot! The gal in the picture is my pal Georgia "Puddles the Pirate Kitty"; her and the other Clan Moo and P.O.P people do these fire shows quite a bit..they're quite  talented and aRRRR fun to watch (and have a drink with :) ) Thanks for taking these! Light painting style is so awesome!
