It wasn't really any specific person, more like my situation in life. I learned to crosstitch when I was about 4 from Granna. Both Granna and Grandmother used to sew...but by the time I came around they couldn't really anymore. They did both have their sewing rooms still set up, and I loved hanging out in there and looking at all the tools and such they had. I learned to sew when I was about 6 at a Girl Scout sleepover. We all made pjs for our American Girl dolls. We didn't have much money when I was a kid, we had to file for bankruptcy at one point. I wanted different thing for my Molly doll and Barbies and baby dolls and all that jazz, but I was lucky to even have any of those dolls. So I used scraps given to me by Granna and Grandmother, and any old clothes we out grew/wore out to make clothes for my dolls...they were all crudely handstitched until I learned to use a machine when I was about 8...I eventually grew out of playing with dolls but never grew out of making clothes for Molly. I eventually got the guts/the experience (in high school) to try to make things for myself...and haven't stopped since! :)

Now I'm a fashion design major, and going into Costume design after I graduate! Film, not stage...I'll be moving to Cali after I graduate...
Things are shaping up to be...
Pretty. Odd.

Who inspired me?
#1 would be my mom. she use to make aprons to sell to surrounding neighbors. But she would let me play with her Singer. I was fascinated with the discs that change the stitches and the ruffler attachment. Loved making ruffles. That was during the mid to late 60's.

#2.  I took Home EC in high school, cooking and sewing. Cooking because I thought I would become a great chef.  And sewing because I wanted to make Halloween costumes that I couldn't buy or find. I was the only male in the classes.

#3 I then began to sew for a friend who did drag. I made his gowns and dresses for stage acts. That was mid 80's up to about 2003.

And here I am today making garb for fair.   ;)
