Kot-uh-Lee-nuh
Ok, that had me.  I'm a Californian, and I was pronouncing it CAT-uh-Lee-nuh, like hte island.

That's ok- most people don't think about the Spanish pronunciation.

Yes, but at the time I signed up the forum didn't want to accept the tilde.

Our last name is Dowe.  I always say like the Dow Jones Industrial or Dow Chemicals without the money.

Many people pronounce it like the word "owe" with a D in front of it.  Like dough that you bake with.

E: "What is your name?"

B: "Kate."

E: "Isn't that a bit of a... girl's name?"

B: "Oh, um... it's short for 'Bob'."

--- 'Bob' (a.k.a. Kate) and Edmund Blackadder (Blackadder, Series 2)

My name is also pretty simple - David

Nothing too complex about it, except my Dad used to call me "Brother Dave", due to his listening to Brother Dave Gardner back in the 1960's.   ;)  ;D

LOL. By coincidence, my daughter's name is Kate. But no, I didn't name my son Baldrick.  ;)

I've been using mine in SF cons for since 1994.  When I started doing anime cons in '06, people thought it was Japanese and tried pronouncing it. (it's an acronym)

ME
A

yoU
wHO?

Most people pronounce it somewhere around Meow or Meh-yu.

Because of my time working for Federal and State governments, it's listed as a legal alias.

B-AHH-b...

Could be B-OH-b, I suppose... but I'm pretty sure you have to have at least 2 o's for it to make the oooo sound.  :P
