Many people are coming forward with reports that the crack in the reservoir was visible for months.
I zoomed in on Google Earth and you can indeed see the crack in the northwest corner of the reservoir where it failed.

Thanks for the link.  You can see more than a few weak spots in that dam.

Now they are saying that the spill is nearly as big as the Gulf spill.
But this ran through peoples' homes and businesses. And they expect the rest of it to give way any day now.

And it reached the Danube.  Danube means it is now in the global water system.

Amidst all the green and blue of the countryside, that red color of the reservoir really jumps out at you. It just looks wrong. While the spill is a tragic and terrible disaster, I also can't help thinking that no one should be surprised that it happened. All reservoirs filled with toxins are just disasters waiting to happen--it's just a question of when.
