Merlin, there's always RenDezvous!  You could make an effort to get to OKRF, as well, although it's not quite the same experience as TRF... and I know hardly anyone there, as opposed to the scores of folks I've met who frequent the TX Faires. 

I'm hoping to talk a bunch of R/Fer's into invading OKRF (the Castle at Muskogee) this coming season, btw...

I can't wait for Thursday!!!  I'm looking forward to finally meeting some of y'all (you'll just have to excuse my initial shyness)  and for the first time, I've made fairy favors!  I'm a dork, I know, but I'm excited about handing them out

That would be awesome, Bonny!  Unfortunately, there is no playtron/patron camping, although there are campgrounds within 15/20 minutes of the site, if my info is correct.  I know nothing about them, though, and I've been having trouble finding much at all about the camping scene from anyone on the Faire's fb page...  There's just not the same kind of Rennie network here as I've found in other places, which is sad...

Tink, we haven't even made any favors this year, although I had plans for some.  As usual, though, things have happened (like unscheduled dental visits and the PLAGUE) to keep me from finishing half the things I've started, and I fully plan to spend the next day and a half in a drug induced haze while the bruising in my jaw fades and the ice-pick in my brain is being removed... so I doubt we'll have any favors this year... but I know a certain pirate hat that just won't ever be complete without a Fairy favor!    heheh

Also, I made a trip down to OKRF last year and loved it. I kept an eye out for camp grounds and you're right Rani, there are some close by, but alas, I don't know much else Muskogee is also a small town, my boyfriend and I stayed in a motel room next to another ren couple. It was a nice get away!

One thing I loved about OKRF was the coins they used as tender. You'd pay with cash and a vendor would (sometimes) give you your change in coins with value of 1, 2, 5, and 10 'pounds'. I think it would be fun to invade one of the campgrounds and have a nice R/F Rennie enclave for after Faire, and all set off for Faire at roughly the same time of morning!  Hmmm... this needs some thought.

Don't worry about being shy.  I'm a performer and I'm still shy about going up to R/F people and saying hello.
