I will be attending closing weekend and was curious of the selection of coats / cloaks any of the vendors will have? We are camping (can't wait) so I was looking to get a cloak the Friday to where the rest of the weekend. Any suggestions?

Mystic cloak and tailor is my favorite! They are down near the stage where Adam Crack the Whip guy is at...er... Falconer's stage? <3 my cloak from them!

Hope to meet you closing weekend!

I have to second Lady Kett, Mystic Cloaks are wonderful! And well worth the price. Very warm and WATERPROOF (well I know at least some are, if not all) ! I don't have one yet but I have worn them and loved every minute of it. Hopefully next year I can get one.
I'm the reason the rum is gone! (Unless Teach is near by!)

Thank you very much for the quick responses.Do you know if they have a website? I am very excited to go. We will be arriving on Thursday night and staying through Sunday. Should be awesome and the weather looks great. I will look forward to seeing you all as well.

Thank you. The wait grows harder and harder with each day that passes.

Mystic cloaks are great.  I own one and love it.  My wife is planning on ordering one in the color she wants.
They have been selling so fast that they are having trouble keeping any in stock this season.

Another good choice for cloaks is the Highland Anvil.

I own a Mystic cloak as well and I love it!

Another vote for Mystic Cloak and Tailor:

I know them pretty well, they are proud of what they are doing and it shows in the quality of the product, yet the prices are still reasonable considering it is a piece of garb that is going to last a very long time if decently cared for.  My advice, go as early as possible on Friday, I know they work until their fingers bleed (literally) trying to keep up with demand, if it is chilly or rainy they will sell out whatever is in their store very quickly.

Completely off topic, but I didn't know there were any virgins at TRF...

The vendor directly across from the entrance also has nice leather gloves that you probably will want also. Someone else probably knows the actual name. But you definitely need to hit Mystic cloaks early.
40+ degrees at opening will probably mean a stampede of chilled people.

The opening weekend of the Colorado Renaissance Festival this last season saw rain, rain, rain, and more rain, with occasional hail, and with temperatures topping out around 50 degrees.  Being members of the cast, the Baroness and I were required to be out in it from canon to canon.  Fortunately, we had our Gore-tex- lined capes from:

mysticcloakandtailor.com

Thusly covered, we stayed toasty and dry the entire weekend.  Several other members of the cast, including Queen Anne herself, ordered cloaks after spending the weekend cold, wet, and miserable.  (Naturally, the remainder of the season was dry and hot.)

Doug and Kat have several standard cloaks, all lined with Gore-tex, and guaranteed waterproof.  In addition, they offer custom cloaks with the outer layer being the fabric of your choice.  They are a pleasure to do business with, the workmanship is excellent, and their prices are, in our opinion, quite reasonable.  We love our Half Moon capes, but when the weather gets iffy our "mystic's" are the ones we throw in the coach.

The Baroness and I will be coming to TRF for closing weekend, and we will definitely be packing our Mystic's.

If you want velvet, Faire Paire is the place.  Ginger has a new style that the ties go under the arm and tie at the back...the weight rests on the shoulder, not the neck.  The most comfortable cloak I've worn.

We will be getting there early Friday morning. So we should be able to get in quick. But would you all recommend that we setup camp and stuff before we go in that morning or is there enough light to do it after the days activities?

If you stay until closing there will not be light left.  I would suggest setting up camp first.

Have to 3rd that - Get to camp as early as possible, throw up the tent and rain fly, then head in.  Unpacking can always be done later if you're anxious to get in - And who isnt'  ;)

And for gloves, Excalibur is up front near the front gate to the right of the coffee shop (Big Purple Umbrellas).  They have very nice and warm leather gloves.  Of which I will be patronizing as I finally wore out my last pair (They were actually used for sword training and saw A LOT of use), Oh and I lost them Highland fling weekend anyway.
