Lady Rosalind

Hi folks! I am in need of some knock-out trim, for our Queen's new gown. I know that we used to have a thread on the old forum with links to online sources for trims, but I can't seem to find a replacement here. Could I prevail upon folks to share their trim sources here? We've looked in a few places, but the bookmarks are on her laptop, not mine... (Lady Kathleen, what was the name of the lace where you found the black and gold trim for the Mary Queen of Scots gown?)

Thank you all!!!!!  ;D

I haven't purchased anything from them personally, but the person making my wedding gown {way too daunting for me to attempt - I STILL haven't finished my 'simple' skirt!  >:(} recommended that site when we were picking out colors, etc. They have TONS of trims and the prices seem to be reasonable {hence the name, I suppose  ;) }

Also on Ebay, I can highly recommend Zuke989 for trim.  I have ordered trim from this person several times and have never been disapointed.

  They don't have a store, but here's a link to their profile:  http://myworld.ebay.com/zuke989

Lady Rosiland...

The knockout trim I used for my Mary, Queen of Scots gown was from http://www.mjtrim.com/

Here is the page where the trim can be found...http://www.mjtrim.com/catalog/product/123526/26955/26955.aspx

Trims on this particular site do run a bit more, but this particular Iron On trim was so worth the expense to get the look I was searching for when I did this gown to recreate as close as I could the Couching style of Embroidery common to the Elizabethan period.

I also order trims from http://www.pillagedvillage.com/ Thewy have trims that work for Medieval through the 18th Century that could be hard to find.

Just a note on cheep trims, while they have fantastic selection there is a minimum purchase amout of 60$ I think it is.... now if you are a trim-a-holic that should be no problem... Or surround your computer monitor with a group of friends & bulk order :)

I just ordered last week another boatload of lace trims in white and black from CheepTrims that I use for Chemises and Men's Shirts.

Thanks, everyone! We will be looking through all of the choices, and figuring out what would look best on her new gown. Lots of work to do!!!  ;D

A gown for a Queen must have the best. No ordinary trim will do. Same goes for choice of fabrics.

I'll take a look in my bookmarks for my online resources, but if you have a Home Fabrics & Rugs close by, you can find incredible stuff for dirt cheap. I got trim there that was $.50/yd full price...the same stuff was $1.75 at Hancock Fabrics...on sale.  The best was the trim for my gown and my friends....$.25/yd.

William Booth, Draper - Great for middle and lower-class stuff.  Lots of silk, wool, and linen twill tapes. :)

Yes, M.J. Trims is expensive, but definately worth it, because of some of the wonderful stuff they have that is not the run of the mill stuff that everyone else has.  I had bought some beaded green velvet trim there a while back when I was still going to make this gright green dress.

BTW - if you visit New York, this is also a fun store to wander through.
