Water sealer

I need a little help in finding the best water sealer for my untreated canvas

for tents everyone used Thompson's water sealer

We have used something along this line on our costumes made out of heavy uphosltery fabric. It was put to the test when it poured at faire. The water just "beaded" on the surface so it could be flickered off.

decksealers (like Thompson's) work great, and they are easy to use, but if you are intrested in something a little more traditional you could try oiled canvas.

mix equal parts: linseed oil, turpintine, and ammonia.  Paint it on to the canvas letting it soak into the fibers then let it dry.
