vw jetta sportwagen???

I was wondering if anyone here drives a vw jetta sportwagen , particularly the diesel model (tdi)

If you do I would love to know what you think of it, your experience with it and relative cost of maintenance.

My son just bought one two weeks ago, which he loves.  He traded in a BMW SUV for the diesel Jetta wagen.  Gets approx. 40 mpg. He'll be home this weekend for a week, so I'll ask him now that he's had it more than a couple of days.  He lives in Boston, drives in city traffic for a commute, but I already know he likes the gas mileage.
