I always look at the swords and hats, to see if there's anything I can afford (so far, no). And I buy accessories, like fans and snoods. I'm so bummed, though - I bought a great wooden folding fan at Lady MacSnood at the St Louis Ren Faire, and somehow in my move, it completely disappeared. And I need a spare fan in case mine ever breaks. The wood/cloth kinds are so hard to find!

Other than that, it's really about the kettle corn, candied almonds, and turkey legs for me. :)

On our first day of faire my first purchase is beer and pretzel. Then we walk around visiting all the shops making a list as to what we will buy the next day.
I always buy a one big item every year to have on display at home.
But these things are a given turkey leg, turkey nuggets, scented oil, incense, soaps, scented candles and things to add to our grab that we are not able to make oursevles.
Oh and of course beer and pretzel, beer and pretzel, beer and pretzel.

Lady Eriu

I always visit Round Two Costumes for tankards...Liz's parents go to England every year and pick some up to sell at her merchant booth, and her prices for gently used feastgear are the best I've seen. And Liz sews lovely garb, as well, and her husband Michael teaches the game of Farkle at their booth. You can find her at Ravenshire Ren Faire (Palisade, CO), Midsummer Faire (Cedar City, UT), and Colo. Medieval Festival (Ft. Collins, CO), to name a few.

This weekend will be our first visit to Sherwood Forest. I expect to have all kinds of new shopping opportunities.
