My name is Genevieve McQuilling. My daughter was accepted to sell soap and wool at TRF as well as doing milking, spinning and weaving demonstrations. This is particularly special to me because I was in third grade when my dad was a musician the very first year of the festival.

I passed the hat for his trio and received 1/4 of the tips for my efforts. The TRF grounds are so dear to my heart.  I feel like I spent 1/2 of my childhood sleeping in the old gypsy wagon that is now parked in the bone yard.

I was visiting the festival with my family last October, when I got the call that my father had passed away in hospice in my sister's arms. My children said, "We know there is no place Grandpa would rather we had been."

Imagine my surprise when my 16 year old's vendor application was accepted. We are frantically preparing, and eagerly anticipating spending our fall at the most magical place on earth.

Looking forward to meeting you, and your family, as well!  Congratulations to your daughter on winning a vending spot at such a young age!!!

Is the soap your daughter will be selling made from goat's milk, by any chance?  And the wool?  Is it roving, yarn, or both?  From your own animals, by chance?  And what kind of loom will your daughter be using for her demos?

Sorry...  :D  I'm interested in all these things, so I would imagine my own daughter and I will be spending some time pouring over everything in your daughter's tent, and watching her demo's with fascination!  We'll be the ones asking all the questions...  ;)

We will have a tent on Mockingbird across from Whimsey's Muse Faerie Photography. We do sell goat milk soap, and my 13 year old will be doing milking demonstrations twice a day with one of out Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats. We will also have a couple of laying hens and at least one baby goat.

The wool is from my friend's sheep. it's hand dyed, and the kids will be teaching patrons how to spin using a drop spindle. They are selling hand dyed roving, and yarn, drop spinning kits, and knitting kits.

We will bring a triangle loom, and patrons can add the yarn they spun to the project, but we are not selling any garments.

My 16 year old runs our farm. Since we live in the area, she wanted to teach about sustainable agriculture, and poly culture, and what a family can responsibly raise on a small acreage.

This is her website.

She was supposed to be cleaning up the typos and misspellings today, but we got carried away cleaning the carpets instead.

Oh, I forgot that she is also selling little bags of goat compost already mixed with heirloom seeds. She did this once for a church fair, and people really liked them, even at $5.00 a bag.

I have NO idea how all of this will fit in a tiny tent!

Editing to add something else I forgot that we are selling. My 13 year old raises Quail, and blows the eggs to make Christmas tree decorations. I need to have her add those to the website.

Oh, thank you everyone, your feedback is so encouraging.

Even my little 4 year old has been busy felting soap dishes, and working on her English accent.

English accent?!? I do well just to get my boothies to speak RenTex.

Breandan

Ravic, I know a few techniques perfected by the FSB/KGB that will come in handy to encourage them to learn better :D
