masquerade mask making

A friend of my daughters is having a sweet sixteen masquerade ball (doesnt that sound like fun?)

We have a black mask to decorate, and I have some little flowers, sequins, etc we will decorate with.

Not having done this before, Im not sure what kind of glue would work best? the small flower bunches seem a little heavy for just all purpose glue, but Im a bit afraid hot glue will burn through the plastic mask.

How fun! They do make low heat hot glue guns. I think these would not melt a plastic mask.

There also gel glues that work well.

I used a low temp glue gun at a Michael's art class on a 99 cent plastic mask to glue on feathers.  Worked great!  It didn't melt the mask, and the feathers are still stuck on (2 1/2 months later).  If you use any type of craft glue, you will have to wait a terribly long time for the glue to dry!

Low temp hot glue, use tweezers if you are worried about burning your fingers.

There also gel glues that work well.   

Gel glues does wonders. I worked with it all this weekend, and I can't believe I haven't discovered it before!

Also, for Masquerade masks - many of the Venetian masks out there are painted in a ground colour, and then decorative pattern is added in gold/silver or glitter. If you buy glitter glue, you could imitate this look. Gold or silver on black is awesome! Adding a nice trim around the eyes and around the outer line is also a good idea. Use gel glue for this.
