Just heard that Steve Jobs has passed away sometime today.

He has left an indelible mark on the computer industry.

Indeed he has. His legacy will be long lived and he will be talked about for many years to come.

I bet even Bill Gates goes to that funeral.

I'm truly saddened to learn of Steve Jobs' death," explained Gates, in a statement. "Melinda and I extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, and to everyone Steve has touched through his work." "Steve and I first met nearly 30 years ago, and have been colleagues, competitors and friends over the course of more than half our lives," Gates continued.  "The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come."  "For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely."

It's sad to lose a great mind such as Steve Jobs. There are so few left.

I'm not surprised to see such a statement from Gates. I know there has been a constant feud over the years between Apple fans and PC fans (and *nix fans in general), but truth be known, Gates innovations have been just as important. He and his company's work with Unix helped shape the Apple operating system. We wouldn't be where we are today without both of them.

Steve Jobs' vision will be missed.

As much of an innovator Mr. Jobs was, I was more partial to the genius of the "other" Steve in Apple, Steve Wozniak, the wonderful "Wizard of Woz".  For without him, in my humble opinion alot of Mr. Job's ideas would not have been possible, nor would have had a platform for his expression.  But I nonetheless tip my hat in respect to him.  Rest in peace Mr. Jobs!
