yea Medieval Fight Book was a much better show but I do wish they would stop saying hunting bow are the same as war bows.  80 pounds pull is a hunting bow a war bow minimum is 100 pounds and the average was 120.

I thought one ironic part was how upset Charlie was that in the past Patrick taught him a lesson by supposedly using a solid lance instead of one that would break (Episode 1).  Then Charlie (Episode 2) is tired and in a bad mood so he tells his squire to suit up so he can do the same thing to him that Patrick reportedly did to Charlie. 

His total disregard for the ren community was very disheartening.  The scene where Brian tells him he doesn't trust him (Charlie) so Charlie gets in a shoving match.  Was that supposed to show he was tough or something?

It is sad that this show is showcasing Sherwood and even sadder that they are filming at TRF on Celtic Christmas weekend.  Does that mean the Knights of Mayhem are coming to TRF that weekend?  Is the normal joust troupe off that weekend?

I know some of these guys from KOM and many, many others from different troupes, and Charlie thinks the world revolves around him and has, in the past, talked a lot of stuff about himself that wasn't true even on national TV. Like he was a Navy Seal and stuff like that. Gives true knighthood and our military a bad name. Not saying he isn't good at what he does because he can joust, but he also has been taken down. Patrick is just the opposite and needs to be hailed as what a knight should be. I still like full contact because that is the way it was. And, there are some others that do full contact as well like Shane Adams. The show as a whole is not bad as long as you can look past the "Charlie Drama". He isn't the first person to want to make jousting a regular sanctioned sport. That has been going on for some years. So it isn't his brainchild. Just my 2 cents...

Clisto, I respect your opinion on many things. But I believe that this Charlie person's antics are going to reflect badly on two faires that I love.
I also hope that whatever the fair is in Utah where the Inside Edition incident happened takes steps to protect them selves.
I have passed my opinion on to a few people at Scarby about the volatility of this situation.

I will admit that I enjoyed watching their joust at Sherwood.  But all I could do was shake my head when I watched the preview clip on the Nat Geo site.  I hate reality tv to begin with.  First, it is all staged and there is nothing real about it.  Second, up to this point, reality tv has managed to stay away from things I actually enjoy.  I have a terrible feeling that these guys, though their original intent may have been well founded, will bring a very bad light to Faires and the Ren community.

I recorded the first two episodes and caught them both last night. Note this is my opinion only. No better than anyone else's.

They seem to be trying to make a new UFC/WWF genre. And if I want to watch that then I will watch that, minus horses of course. But I don't watch that either. I have long described WWF as a Man's soap opera. Seems we have a new Man's Renaissance soap opera. I did note that they were not showing any of Charlie's spiel during shows at all. But if they are presenting it in the same style, then I will not be following this at all.

I enjoyed the show simply for the entertainment, it's just a show so I take it at it's worth.  I'm not too worried about it reflecting badly on the Renn Community, one man doesn't have enough juice to to bring us all down, even with his steroids, lol.  I do like Sir Patrick, he seems to have some sense to him

Thank you Dona and believe me, I am right with you on this and not against you. I just happen to like Full Contact jousting, not the one guy in it here that can actually make it bad instead of good. I don't want to see anyone's faire suffer any indignity from this guy. And you would think if he acted better he may just get sponsorship from people. He just shoots himself in the foot.

Noble Cause & Paragon Joust troupes ROCK for theatrical. They are a great bunch of people who like to interact with the crowds and have fun. Noble Cause has done the new Door County Ren faire in WI. for the last two years. And Paragon is at several others I attend and I know them all real well too.  HUZZAH!!!

The Black Knight is a doll...sweet fairly down to earth and a nice person...he got to be friends with a horse pal of mine and I got to know him at SFF.... Charlie is a thug...if you look in his eyes there is nothing but hate and that is not a good thing...add lying cheating bastard and you have a not nice person...Sadly he wants all the front man glory!!!! I say we all back Patrick and his Black Knight persona!!!!!
