This is one that I was totally unprepared for.
Many of the larger pubs served beer only...or had 1 or 2 token wine selections. To get wine, in a glass or in a bottle, we had to visit wine shops.
I know in 2010, the POW had 4 or 5 wine selections in the bottle. 2011....zip.
I was grateful for the wine shops we did find, especially the one across from Dra that had a fireplace. But it did mean less time visiting in the POW. And I'm sure we missed a few people because of that.
Anyone else notice or be bothered by this?

The Greek Agora was selling wine and mead by the bottle I know.  I had my kids so much this season I was not able to partake of the vino, mead, or suds like I would of liked to.
Home Faire - Texas Renaissance Festival
Frequent - Scarborough, Four Winds, Sherwood, and Middlefaire as well.

POW had several selections yesterday including a chocolate mead.

I'm not sure, but I think some of the main pubs (Sea Devil, Agora, Polish Pub) are not all owned by the fair, and have their own licensing and agreements in place.
I know MIL runs the Rose & Thistle, which is the wine shop w/ the fireplace.
If it makes better financial sense to carry or not carry something, they'll do as they like.
I can sorta see why the Sea Devil or Polish Pub might not carry wine, but I figure the POW would have had at least the standard bar lineup.
Then again, the gift shop for the feast hall right next door carries plenty of wine. Who knows?

Personally, I never touch the stuff.

The Sea Devil, Agora, and Polish pubs are all owned by different owners, none of whom are TRF.

The Sea Devil is owned by the Princes who also own the Feast Hall, the Prince of Wales Pub, the Wonky Wally beer pub, the Taverna di Vino wine shop (where the wine tasting is held), and several food and drink booths around that structural ring.

The Greek Agora (the entire ring) owned by this group:  http://www.santaluciainc.com/index.htm

And the Polish pub and Polonia are owned by these nice folks:  http://www.poloniarestaurant.com/

As they are all individually owned, it is up to the owners to decide what they serve, and then they work with the vendor coordinator to put that into their contract with the Festival.

Nahhh...while I have not had it, it surely can't hold up against your personal stock.  ;)

Thanks for the clarification. And for the record, I rarely drink mead because I can only take so much sugar at one go.

Oberhoff is the first ever mead I have liked.
I am not normally a wine drinker. By all thinking I should like the stuff but I just... don't
We actually made a trip to their winery to buy some outside of faire season and I found 6 different wines they make that I did like! I was extremely impressed.

*I would ask for a rum flavored wine but wouldn't that pretty much just be... rum*
