I started out emphasising historical accuracy, then decided I'd much rather have fun instead.  People can readily tell I'm a pirate, so that's good enough for me.

True Dat Mad Jack! Dinna thynk aboot it, til ye sed it...

Brought t' mynd when Lady Mikayla an I were leaving th' hotel fer a day at BARF. As we passed a family on our way t' th' car - I heard a wee one exclaim "MOMMA! He's a PIRATE!".

An I figures, hey if'n a wee one can figure it out....I'm there!  8)

I remember when that little boy walked up to you in the restaurant and said, "My little sister thinks you are going to kill her!"  ;D

Fun fantasy pirate.  I ain't givin up my leather coat for nobody!  Nor my pistol with ruby eyes or a single one of my era spanning swords or daggers.  I like havin' all my teeth and ceavage too.  Working class historically accurate garb just isn't really very sexy I'm afraid.

Seaman Blurt

I would like to be more authentic, but who really is to say what is authentic. i have searched for pirate archeology and really have found evidence of what they really wore. i have seen a few paintings, but how authentic are they? Although i think it would be kinda funny to dress like Patchy the pirate from Spongebob

I have a term for how we are garbed:   hysterically inaccurate

Which also extends to our pirate garb.

I suppose I'm a mixture. I've tried to get acurate clothing for my pirate shirt, pants, belt hat. But I've added things like bucket boots, and a few charms for my belt that wouldn't be accurate or easy to wear on a ship.

Sooo....I suppose I am transitioning from HI ( Hysterically Inaccurate ) to Disney.  ;D

That is a great look!  I'm drooling over the vest I can see under that coat in the KR pic.  It looks like a small pattern brocade with perhaps some beading? Maybe that's just the picture.

I'm also checking out the button up sides on those breeches... nice detail.
