Does any one have a partlet pattern that they would recomend? I want to make one for Sherwood next year, or on the off chance we have another cold  day at Scarby this year.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Are you looking for an Elizabethan partlet that goes under the bodice or a Tudor worn over?

I've made several from the free Margo Anderson pattern. I believe the only difference between this one and the noblewoman's partlet are the shoulder seams.

I was looking for one to go under.  I think the link you gave me will work.

There's ther one from Lynn McMasters that can be varied. I have used it for several Partlets, changing the neckline to make a Figure 8 Ruff Style. http://lynnmcmasters.com/partlet/partletpatcoverhalf.jpg

Me wearing mine made from the Lynn McMasters' pattern from Silk Organza.

I've made the Lynn McMasters pattern. Mine is silk organza with a pointed lace edge and the pearl drops on the ribbons.
The only change to that pattern that I would recommend is to cut the shoulder 'cape' wider and longer to give yourself plenty of  extra fabric to cover chest and back.
It's been a year since I made it, but when I did a cotton mock up using her pattern,  the shoulder/chest piece just barely came to the ends of my collarbone, not draped over the shoulders as shown on the package.
It was an easy fix, and I achieved the same 'package picture' with little fuss.

I did the same thing Rowan, by adding an additional 3 inches to the length. That way, I had enough for the channels for the drawstring. Better too long than too short.

Some old threads on partlets and how to make them that may be of use:

How to make a partlet/what pattern to use to make one seems to come up around every six months so there are a LOT of threads on the topic - these just looked to have the most information that would be helpful.

EDIT:  The link I posted in one of the old threads four years ago doesn't work directly.  However, the wayback machine is full of awesomeness.

I've made the free Margo Anderson version--easy-peasy, great results. You can (sort of) see it in my avatar; here's a bigger version:

In a fit of creativity, I did some machine embroidery on the collar stand and added a box-pleated ruffle. It looks nice worn open, too.

You can see how wide it is--the edge of the partlet is peeking out past my corset strap in the bottom right corner of the photo. The instructions didn't include finishing the raw edges on the sides, which is either a mistake or just weird, so I put in a narrow hem instead of leaving them raw.

No Way Gem!  I always thought that was a full blouse in that picture!  Neato!

Amy, I know! I'm still totally amazed how perfectly the fabric I chose for the partlet--bright white cotton broadcloth--matches the chemise Silverstah made me!  I have toyed with the idea of making a high-necked chemise in the interest of reducing layers (probably hand-sewn, of linen, with hand blackwork at the collar/cuffs), but other projects keep hopping the line.   :D

That project would be lovely but you really can put it on the back burner when you have a combination as nice as that already in your closet.

All the examples are so pretty.
