A most hearty congratulations to Scarby for placing in four out of four categories in this year's Ren Fest Awards!

YAY!  Those are my peeps!!!!

#1 Opening Gate doesn't surprise me one bit.  As far as I know, Scarby is the ONLY faire where the cast does long-form improvisation for every single Opening Gate (and definitely the only faire where the improv is based on the lines from two randomly chosen fortune cookies!), and if you don't think THAT is a challenge, then I don't know what is! :)

Go Scarby and SAPA!!!!

That is hilarious, and totally makes me want to stay outside the gates before cannon and really listen to what's being said! (instead of going inside, getting my scone, and touching base with my other working friends before the madness ensues after the gates are thrown wide)

It doesn't surprise me either, Lys. I didn't know about the fortune cookie trick until a year or so back, but I always enjoy the show.  The year one of the rookies mistook me for cast was, to say the least, interesting. The `Danes had selected me to go to battle with the Gypsy King, or a pirate captain, or something... I was about to shout for the script girl (at that time not knowing it was all improv) when one of the veteran cast members realized that something had gone cattywampus, stepped up and said, "No, I'd rather fight this rogue!"  Saved by the bell...ringer!

When it comes to the Best Royalty, there is no doubt in my mind. Of all the Henry VIIIs I've seen at various faires, and on the faire websites, our very own VIII is Henry VIII...I'm convinced of it. It's just that during one of his reincarnations, he became a nice guy!

Now if they'll just put a weather-control dome over the village...

Amen to the dome Merlin! I'm not surprised by the awards either. Opening gate...we usually try to stand close enough to catch most of it and still get in and get our scones and hang left to catch an early show. Royalty...indeed the best! They work hard to make Scarby the magical place that she is. Here's to a wonderful 2012 season and many more! Congratulations SRF!!

Steve & I visited Scarborough in 2010 and loved every minute of it.  It is a magnificent and wonderful faire, the faire grounds, the musicians and shows, the vendors, the food, and most of all the fantastic people we met.  Which is reflected in all of the awards this faire won.

I could keep on and on about how great it is!  We are really, really hoping to be able to visit again soon.  We would have been there this season, except the airlines didn't cooperate with reasonable prices.

If anyone ever needed a reason to move to Texas, Scarborough Faire would be it!!!   ;D

P.S.  There are TONS of reasons to move to Texas.  We loved it when we visited there!  Besides Waxahatchie, we spent a wonderful day in San Antonio (I'm in love!) and enjoyed Austin immensely.  Scarborough isn't the only reason, but it really is a great faire!
