So my daughter is moving to Boston for college and when we're up there getting her settled in I found out King Richard's Faire will just be starting.  Has anyone ever been to it?

No, but it's listed in the the Northeast section of the forums.
Don't forget to smell the roses, but watch out for the thorns!

Thanks!  And I have perused their forum, but needless to say, it's nothing like our big, wonderful, fun-filled forum!  The most recent post on there was from Sept. 2011.  I am hoping that it picks up closer to their opening of Sept. 1.  I'd like to have a friendly face to meet up with when we go  :)

I did go in 2005 so my opinion is a bit out of date.  Lovely wooded site.  Beyond that I just didn't have anything I could come back with a "wow".   It was, at that time the highest gate ticket of any of the faires.  They also used "coupons" for everything and the coupons didn't match prices (like the coupons were worth $1, but things were priced $1.25, you had to give them two coupons and didn't get any change)  I would have been okay with that, if it went to a tip, but no, it just went into the till.    There was also no in/out.  Once in, in for good, if you left you had to pay full gate to get back in.

As it stood, we paid gate for a three day weekend, and they closed because of weather the third day.  We were left holding tickets and coupons in excess of $100 - and, being from Nevada, didn't know any one to gift them to.

Of course, any day at any faire is better than life without.  If any of these things are still the same, just knowing them in advance would help you plan so that you could enjoy the faire more than we did.

Good information and I thank you!

Hopefully they have grown and have a better business sense now!  We're only up there for a day and a short one at that.  I'll post pics and comments when I get back.  Of course we're not going for months.  I always plan WAY in advance.

And I couldn't agree more.  I'll take any faire over none  :)
