I'm making a noble gown; heres the theme, i seek ideas...\

This character was a rag doll of a queen. A magician turned said rag doll into a human, and she is in full court attire. the dress is put together with 5 different fabrics, to give it a rag flair, without cheapening it.
I've been lookin for a few days, thought I'd see what you come up with! Show me pictures of court sleeves! :D i am even thinking of maybe having 2 different styles, possibly. ideas! q's! comments! yay!! thanks errrvrybody

Is this for a faire or just your own idea?

How accurate do you want to be?

Here is a photo of a doll (I haven't seen evidence for rag dolls as we know them prior to the late 18th C.   Most dolls were made of wood or wax before that) from the 16th C:

Here's a color photo of the one "cloth" doll I know of:

There are a TON of sites out there with information on dolls in the 16th C.   Also, don't forget to check out the actual paintings of the time.   A queen would have a doll befitting of her station - that of a princess- during her childhood.  The doll would be dec'd out as a Queen and most likely made of wood.

Are you looking for an overall impression like this?  Jane the Phoole looks a lot like an oversize doll, doesn't she?

thanks for the bump on the sleeve page!

The photo you showed, rowen, is more whimsical than i want. the dress is more earth tones, with several textures. i now have some reallllly good ideas thans to this board! :D i'll take pics of my group when i get everything on and sized properly.

isabella, its more fun than h/a- it will be mostly period, but I don't want to confine myself to that box. she is, after all, a ragdoll turned human. the very idea is fantasy! :) and thx for pulling those links! the dolls are super neat

You're the best, everyone!!
