Help with MDRF faire Hotels - just a question

I put this here as the MDRF board is kinda dead lately.   We are thinking of a spur of the moment trip up to MDRF this weekend and the usual places we stay are sold out- we like the Bowie area.  While everything in the Bowie/Annapolis area are sold out I found (several) places in the Lantham area which are even cheaper. 

Got me thinking why they weren't. Its only about 7 miles from Bowie - is it because this isn't a safe area?   We are definitely the "church mice going to the big city" and don't have city smarts. 

There are still hotels in the BWI area - but the one time we stayed that way we go SO lost.
