I recently purchased a pair of pumpkin pants...now the search for socks is on! I've searched the 'net for hours and can't seem to find what I need. With pumpkin pants, I assume the sock would need to be over the knee and long enough for the pants to cover the top of. If that's the case, the socks/stockings/leg thingies would need to be about 34" long. Any ideas? Your assistance would be much 'preciated. Oh, the socks would need to be black.

Thanks,

What you are looking for is called 'Hosen'. Generally they tied at the waist and had an opening in front and back.
Look here for substitues....

Lord Caleb, I buy my stockings from Jas. Townsend & Son and can vouch for their products:

They also sell heavy cotton and wool stockings. Look on their site under "Shoes and Stockings."
I came, I saw, I skipped to my lou.

I concur on the Jas. Townsend stockings -- I have three pairs and they all work great. They come up to about mid-thigh on me.

i also agree. The Jas. Townsend stockings are great.
I have several pairs of the light weight cotton and the heavy cotton.
I wear the heavy cotton with my kilts
they are great.

I might try SockDreams.com wide wide selection and colors, quite reasonable...

I've used women's opaque leggings, they sell them at most stores like Walmart and Target.  The largest women's size will fit most men.
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

I have used these a few times for my theater projects.  They are a great price and good quality.  There is no problem with rubbing of color except in 2 colors, the scarlet and the turquoise (it is the nature of the dye used to make the colors).

I will be doing a super hero show soon, and we are planning to do robin hood, so I will be turning to them for my tights.  I wish you luck.
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.
