Pandit Ravi Shankar, the maestro of the sitar, has died. He was an extraordinary musician and teacher.

Nimue and I saw him perform when he toured with George Harrison in 1974, and found a new love in the music world. About 10 years ago, we were able to see his daughter Anoushka on her tour about a year after Harrison's death.  Indian music is mesmerizing, and having had the good fortune of seeing and hearing Ravi all those years ago is something I shall not forget.
