I don't the specifics of the masks but someone told me that it a tradition to wear masks on the final weekend of the faire.  This was our first time LARF.  My wife is from LA and we are now going to make this an annual event.  We go to the 3 main Texas fairs multiple times each year.  We'd like to include Michigan, Colorado and New York at some point.

Great pics!

Fabulous gown, Your Majesty!!!!

Dona Catalina, as for the masks:  The traditional theme for the final weekend in Colorado is "Mardi Gras Weedkend"; all cast members are required to wear masks as part of the celebration.  (Damnably hot, by the by!)  I suspect something similar is at work in Louisiana.
Just call me "Your Grace"
