QuoteA few minutes ago, just a little over one week from launch, the Italian Lady's Patterns Kickstarter project hit $15,000. That's 200% of the $7500 for which I originally asked!

Since I have the extra funds, I've added a third pattern to the Italian set, a Zimarra, or surcoat. I'll be including a baretta, a hat similar to the Elizabethan soft cap, but smaller and taller.

I've also decided to make the Italian Underpinnings pattern even better by adding a sleeveless shift and a supportive bodice. The bodice can be made of stiffened fabric or even boned for use as a corset. And should you want to wear it under your camicia so it won't show when you wear your ladder laced Venetian bodice, I'm also including a simple sleeveless shift to wear under it.

Thank you all for your support!

I wasn't that interested in the underpinnings pattern, but the supportive bodice sounds intriguing!

Has there been any more progress on the Italian Ladies wardrobe? Having just checked Margo's site, I saw a photo of the planned package but did not find anything other than the underpinnings in the "products" listing.

(Sorry to dredge up an old topic but I like keeping same information together.)
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

I'm betting a lot on it being a copy of the velvet underbodices of Eleonora di Toledo. They aren't considered as a pair of stays (read: stiffened, shaping undergarment), rather something she wore for warmth. She also had down lined stomach bands in her wardrobe. An additional benefit would be that the velvet bodice and the stomach bands helped gather the wide chemise.

I'm really interested in the zimarra! Haven't seen a truly good pattern for that yet.
