how is it set up?

First timer here......Just curious how Bristol is set up? At MN, we the big parking lot as usual but the gates are locked to get in, in the morning until 7am then they open them. Is this the same sort of set up at bristol? If so, what time do those gates open at?

bristol is the same way, they have a steel gate that opens at 9 am into the preferred parking for $3.00, people do get there starting at about 6 and get in line and chit chat, sleep, party.  the main wood gate opens at 10 am after a brief show outside the main gate just like they do at MN. not sure about the free parking lot that just a tad north of the site they may open that lot earlier i really don't know for sure about that one

Is there a seperate gate for the "prefeered parking" that we should know of?

Yea, early early is ok for us, I'm used to getting to our parking lot by about 6-6:30 so that no problem

yes, there are 2 lots, hey ya know what there was a posting on the bristol yahoo group with driving directions because there is loads of construction around there, so i am going to post those here in just a second, but yes everyone lines up early there, i just confirmed with my mother that i am planning to leave my home at 5 which should put me there about 6 (unless lots of coffee intakes and discharges) I don't think that people are usually lined up for the free parking but i am not sure of that, there should be a sign saying that it is preferred and they charge, hope this rambling helped, off to find the direction post

THE BAD NEWS:  More construction detours have been announced and BRF
management recommends alternatives  which requires modification of our previous
email:
"Construction of an industrial park at the corner of Hwy 165 and the West
Frontage Road is going to affect the fair all season long. The west frontage
road will be closed from Hwy 165 south to 116th Street from July 1 (or sooner)
until October 15. There will be no access to the west frontage road from Hwy
165. Our patrons coming from the north will use an alternate route to get to the
fair."

Take exit #345/CR-C EAST-WEST onto Frontage Road (120TH AVE) - go 0.3 mi
Turn Right on WILMOT RD (CR-C) - go 1.0 mi
Turn Left on 136TH AVE (CR-U)  - go 2.1 mi
Turn Left on 116TH ST - go 1.0 mi
Turn Right on 120TH AVE - go 0.5 mi to Free lot, Participant Gate, and East Gate

Traveling S on I-94 or E on WI 50 to SOUTH GATE

(From I-94) Exit on WI 50 (75TH ST) going West - go 4.8 mi
Arrive at US-45 & WI 50, BRISTOL, WI turn LEFT (or Right when traveling E on WI
50) onto US 45 (197TH AVE)
Continue to follow US-45 S - go 5.6 mi
Turn Left on 128TH ST (CR-WG) - go 3.8 mi to SOUTH GATE

Traveling N on I-94

Exit at GRAND AVE (IL-132), GURNEE going  W - go 0.9 mi past Gurnee Mills Mall
Turn Right on N HUNT CLUB RD (CR-29) - go 7.8 mi
Turn Right on 128TH ST (CR-WG) - go 1.0 mi to SOUTH GATE
(From other Illinois locations, you may also take US 45 N to 128TH ST turn Right

funny you mention that, last year there was a torrential rain storm on sat. so to be able to open they had a helicoptor there drying the parkin lot, will go find that link and post pics here!

LD, I just printed off directions from the hotel to the faire using the directions on Bristol's site. Mapped out it seems pretty simple. I'm assuming the way back will just have to be reversed?

The faire is just south of 122nd Street on 120 Avenue.

Entrance to the parking is the road to the south.

The road to the north is cast/emp entrance.

Access to the west frontage road, 120 Avenue is from 165.

Now if the west frontage road is closed then take the east frontage road off of 165.

Cross 94 on 122nd Street.

I hope I'm not confusing the issue.

Recommendation Not to use the frontage road, it is subject to closure for work at unscheduled ahead of time times.

Also 128th for those of you coming from the west is also called Stateline road.
