Sounds like the Lord Mayor has been using funds meant for the system and using them for other things mayhaps? Mayhaps the king should take his head this year and place some other more fitting person who's not as likely to mis-appropriate funds meant for the kingdom?

Lady DeLaney, methinks thou doth have the sow by the right ear!  I shall convey thine counsel to His Majesty, The Kinge, and, unless I myss myne mark, thou shall't see a new Mayor of Larkspurshire this season.

I hath heard such talk, As a courtesan, you hear things that others may not. I also heard talk of a new Sheriff? Could thee be so kind as to confirm or deny these things?

Ah, M'Lady!  Forsooth, a courtesan hears many things, some true, some not.

It also does help if all the subjects are French, since it means we waste none of the oil in their hair or underarms, being full there already.

Surrey

My dear Earl, was't you who walked behind the French contingency in the parade oftimes last summer? I get all my nobles mixed up, they all look about the same....in any case, I'll be sure to let his Lordship Le Duc du Gascogne know he ought not bathe the night before the parade, as an especial treat just for you....

Lady Zoe,

Whilst I do appreciate the gesture, there is no need to request the French not to bathe, it comes quite naturally.
