First, I hope for the best for those already effected by the fires!  "So far, 92 houses were considered a total loss and five were partially burned"

I don't know the area, so all I have to go on are:

The dark red is the area they have added to the evacuation list.  The lighter red is already evacuated and fire central. The blue mark is the faire.  I didn't mark it, but for those of you camping, Jellystone is just north of the faire.

9News just reported that there are no plans to close Faire as of this weekend. The faire website confirms.

The good news:  At present, it appears that Larksprushire will not be affected by the fire other than a bit of smoke (depending upon the direction of the wind).

The bad news:  The fire has now consumed some 16,000 acres and 360 homes.  High, blustery winds continue to move the fire in unpredictable directions.

Just hoping it gets under control quickly both for everyone affected by it, and so the faire can go on.  I 'm not going to get to come out there until celtic weekend!  But that depends on mother nature I guess... :(

Well met!  Will be travelling from Dallas to your realm Tuesday and wondering if I need to cancel my week long excursion or not because of the fires.  Is manitou springs ok?  I saw the royal gorge was closed due to fire and cables down so that is crossed off, but don't live there so don't really know whats affected. Advisement would be much appreciated as its my first time to Colorado and Larkspurshire.  :)

One of our R/F family who reports for the Gazette in Colorado Springs says the air is quite smokey from various fires in the state. If you have any pulmonary issues, you might wish to reconsider.  The air is thinner at 7k feet, and with the smoke...not a good combination.  If you are not used to high altitudes, be sure to stay hydrated, and be aware that alcohol effects can be more pronounced.

The Black Forest fire, which was within 10 miles +/- of Larkspurshire, is now 100% contained, but there are 7 fires currently burning in Colorado.  http://www.nifc.gov/fireInfo/nfn.htm for more information.

We were in CO all of last week and were in attendance for opening day last Sat.  The Blackforest fire was only partly contained at that time but we saw no negative effects while in the CORF shire.  I don't remember seeing any reports about any fires around Manitou Springs.  We were in Estes Park for week prior to opening day and went into the National Park three days in row.  There was a fire in the Nat Park, but it was in the west side.  We saw smoke on the horizon one day, but park a park ranger said it was 25 miles away and on the other side of the continental divide.  All in all, the fires did not  impact our plans at all.  But.........that was last week and we were lucky.

Thanks for the update everyone!  We will be heading down from Idaho early Friday morning and will be visiting the shire for the Celtic weekend.  Looking forward to seeing the faire and meeting all of you lovely lords and ladies!

At present, the closest fire—not fully contained—is a relatively small one west of Castle Rock at Lime Gulch.

The Royal Gorge and Black Forest fires, though contained, are still being monitored by local fire departments.
