So I completely forgot that our battery pot luck is coming up and I need to finish a vest for a friend.  I looked for inexpensive buttons when I started the project but slacked off because I thought I had plenty of time.  Well, time's running out! :o  I need something that looks authentic but won't run me a million bucks.  Repro Civil War brass buttons from sutlers are expensive!  I need something in metal with a historical look.  Do you guys have any good sources?  Thanks bunches!

Also, I think it's La Mode that carries the replica buttons at Joanns.  I've gotten some that are authentic to the 1870's and 1880's (bustle era) but I have seen some that are good for earlier as well.  You might want to make a run over there first before paying all that shipping.

I have used this merchant multiple times for period looking metal buttons.  They are VERY affordable, good quality and fast shipping.  I highly recommend them if they have what you need!

Try looking for domed Shank Buttons that have a tarnished brass-like finish to them. Plain buttons!

I have seen them at JoAnn's. Try eBay as well.

Good luck!
