I was thinking of getting a period tent, or at least looking into period tents for now.   Where are some good places to start looking?  Does anyone use their tent other then at faire?  Thanks for all the help and input.

If I were looking for a good looking tent to use at a renaissance faire, I'd probably check out Underhill Pavilions:  www.underhillpavilions.com

It depends on what type of tent you are looking for and your price range.  If you would like a good, serviceable, tent at a reasonable price go to www.midwesttents.com.  Another good source is Panther Pavillions.  While Panther is a little more expensive the plus side is that you can purchase the tent poles and setup package through them directly for your style tent.  With Midwest tents you will get the canvas tent and stakes but have the build the poles yourself.  Another good option at a reasonable price is Armstreet.com.  They sell their tents at a reasonable price complete with poles but the downside is that the tents are coming from eastern europe and might take some time to shipe to you.

I have a 9 foot A frame with a 30 inch Bell and I use it all the time, I'm looking to up grade to a 10x12 Wall tent before TRF. I'm going with one from Yakima Tents, for $260 same tent from panther prim is running $480. Best thing to do is shop around.

Tents intended to be carried by backpackers are the smallest and lightest type.

I've known people who live in the 10 x 10 panther primitive when they don't need to use it as a show tent.  It's a good size tent to live in, and they're pretty waterproof

Can't really direct you where to find "the" tent, but had a thought-would you consider going in on a tent with several people to share the cost? If there are several of you who live close enough together and mostly go to the same events, it might be worth looking in to. Just a thought.

As I have searched on the net, I have found this site that sells tents. They have an immediate inventory availablefrom new and used tents. Check out the "All Seasons Tents Sales".
