How far have you gone for faire?

The three hour mark, give or take, is generally the limit. At 4 hours and more traveling time, it really pushes things in the traveling, from the time I get up, to the time I take off, the drive there, the whole day on one's feet......and then the drive back.

Even at 3 hours, things are interesting in that it may take 3 hours to get there......but it takes 7 hours to get back since I'm dropping down at rest stops to catch naps. Which is another little factor as well. If the faire at a distance is in the vincinty, somehow, of an interstate, then it's more workable than one that isn't.

To perform, I've driven (no flying for this rennie!) to Ingleside, Tx and to Danville, Illinois, to Council Bluffs, Iowa/Omaha, Ne, and will add Great Bend, Ks to the list of long drives next month.  To just kick back and have fun attending faires?  I've driven to Bristol, twice; and to TRF twice (once per season).  Driving may add travel time and expense to the trip but, I get to see so much more of the area around the festival/faire and the communities that support it by driving to and from events.

Just my tuppence,

I have that limit if I'm not spending the night. The furthest I have gone for faire is Kansas City- a little over 3 hours, and the closest was 10 minutes (Nebraska Ren Faire) The rest of the 5-6 events that I regularly attend each year average right about 2-2 1/2 hours away.   Since I work 6 days most weeks, I really have to plan to attend or take vacation.  My next faire (this weekend) is only 15 minutes away.
What doesn't kill me-had better run.

I ( and the hubby) will be driving 14 hours to go to CoRF on June 26th - I am very excited to be going!  I'm even updating my garb  ;D

Other than that the farthest I have gone is Chippewa Falls - which was 2.5 hrs.

Everything goes better with giggles

"How far have you gone for faire?"

Do you speak of distance or intimacy?  ;)   Single trip, not that far. It's about 360 miles to Scarby from here. But we went three times this season... does that count?

I think Merlin went a lot further to go to Sherwood. Has me beat by a lot.

Does it count I am going to a faire in KS when I am on vacation there and live in North Carolina?

I have only ever gone to the MNRF but hope to get to more this year.

This year will certainly be the most total time on the road. We've already done Sherwood, 17 hours round trip. We'll be going to Preview and Opening of Scarby, total 2 trips of about 22 hours, a trip to CoRF for RenDezvous, about 31 hours round trip, and if we get it all worked out, a double-faire weekend to OkRF and Spirit of Magic, probably 11 hours round trip. About two work-weeks of traveling!

Technically, I'm driving about 3000 miles to go to faire next month. I am moving across country, and will be attending both Scarby and the Socal Pleasure Faire on my way.

Rani Zemirah

LadyR, isn't it even a little bit of a drive for you to attend BARF from where you are now?  So you get to include that little segment in your overall mileage.

I think you win...  ;)

Nah, it's only a little over an hour each way. So that's just 4 hours for the whole weekend. Compared to pretty much every other faire I've ever been to, that's close!

Rani Zemirah

Well, I meant your total distance for your upcoming trip...  Since your odyssey will begin with BARF and end with the Socal Pleasure Faire, I think you will be having quite a noteworthy journey, indeed!  I hope you document it with lots and lots of photos!!!
