Can I camp at the Faire?

We are heading down to the Faire on the weekend of Aug. 2nd – 3rd.  We were going to come down from Toronto on the Saturday morning, go to the Faire and then drive back the Saturday evening, but that makes for a very long day, with the 4 ½ hour drive each way.  We are trying to keep our costs down (the money that would be spent on a hotel room will get spent in the Faire anyway) and I thought that I had read in one of the older threads about camping at the Faire.  I can't remember if it were at Great Lakes or not that allowed camping on or at the grounds of the Faire.

I sent the contact email from the website the question, but with the Faire in full swing, I don't know how busy they will be, and if they will be able to get back to me in time.  I figured this was a resource I could tap with a quick response.

Apart from the camping idea, does anyone have any other suggestions for where to camp or stay cheap nearby?

As of last year, there was no camping AT the faire. However, I have heard that there are several campgrounds nearby.

I know not whether it is still so popular as last year, but this site is near the fairegrounds and was decently cheap, quite convenient, and well rennie-populated. I did stay there a few times, and recommend it! Only two turns from faire site.

Hi Robert, we are also driving down from Canada (Cambridge) on the same weekend :)

There is no camping available on the actual faire site, but here is a list of some of the closest campgrounds. These are all within 15 minutes drive or so from the faire. I have included working web addy's for those that have them.

Richards Campground and Heritage Hills are the closest at about 5 miles away.
I live in the area, so if I can help answer any other lodging questions, don't hesitate to ask.

If you want to drive further, there are several more in the area - but who wants to drive further....................

Is Richards still a popular spot?  Wouldn't mind running into a few rennies at the camp as well.

Lady Caroline, if you see me, please approach and say hello.  I will most likely be wearing my scale maille and leather armor (have a peek in the "Arms and Armor" forum for a photo).  That goes for anyone, sometimes I look kinda mean, but I'm quick to a smile.

Richards is still a very popular spot for faire campers. I suggest you call early to make sure they have space available. I am glad to see we have Canadian friends willing to travel so far to visit! You are all most welcome in our shire and we are honored that you feel we are worth the trip. I wish you a safe and pleasant journey to our land.

Will do, Robert.  Hope to have a picture of myself up very soon, just finishing up my garb :)
