This evening, while using a kitchen strainer to remove half a roll of disintegrated toilet paper from my son's bathwater ( I knew it was too quiet in there!), I began to wonder what odd jobs other people have had to do.  I don't mean unusual occupations, but bizarre little chores you've had to do, either at work or at home.

Confess!

KeeperoftheBar

As a lad, I used to mold lead bullets for my Dad's flintlock rifle.  One time after I had made about 100 bullets, he came along and tossed all of them back in the molten lead.  At my look of dismay he explained it took about 100 to get the mold hot enough to make a good ball.

When I was a kid, one of my "chores" was to polish chrome motorcycle parts for my parents'  Harley Davidson show motorcycles.

One of my other chores was to clean out the snake's habitat.  We had a 14 1/2 foot Burmese python with a huge enclosure that needed to be cleaned once a week to remove any sheddings, uneaten food, or poo.  Yup, it was wierd at my house.   ;) ;D
Nothing clever to say here.  Not enough caffine yet.

Pretty much everything I did in Tech Theater.

put together a bunch of office chairs
put together folding chair racks (pain in the arse)
use a staple gun to stretch muslin into flats to paint (stretching it hurt)

Still tech, but not the class:
use a paint sprayer to paint a bunch of sewn together bedsheets
spray paint some sticks black with a ballet dancer

That reminds me...

Once I spray-painted a pair of Fruit of the Loom briefs bright kelly green for a summer camp staff skit spoofing Batman.  It was the adventures of Staffman and Chickadee, IIRC.

Ever gone through every garbage bag in a dumpster looking for human remains?
Always on the lookout for my next noble cause.

And because a flail don't need reloading, that's why.

Once assisted at an archeological site sifting through the wrong end of an ancient "port-o-pot".

Crappiest job ever... ;D
"Why a spoon cousin? Why not an axe?"
Because it's dull you twit, it'll hurt more. Now SEW, and keep the stitches small

using varying sizes of crochet hooks to hook the hair out of the bath tub drain because the drano wouldn't work right.  YECK!

Oddest theater based so far....
Digging through a computer stores dumpster looking for odd cables to use as jewlry for a fantacy costume project.  ;D
It is kind of strange watching your personal history become costume.

Dayna

I thought I was the only one who ever did that! :o

Did you have to resort to the extra long afghan hooks?  ;)

haven't found them but any where from a size 001- size G works well depending on where the clog is.

My rogue has thick houlder length baby fine hair, I have tail bone length silken hair.  I swear those drain traps with mesh holes are god send.  Until we got that, crocet hooks were my best friend when the drain got clogged.   :P YUCK!

You think that's bad?  I have mid back length hair, my wife has lower back length hair, and our daughter has 3/4 to her tailbone length hair. All of which are thick and OMG, when cleaning out our drains, you'd swear there was a wookie hiding down there. ;)

:D That made me laugh!
"Mo-om, the wookie's staring at me again, make him stop!"
